The Hallelujah music book (2011-64-0) by Lowell Mason was published in 1854 by Mason Brothers. The music book contains tunes, chants, and anthems for both church choirs and congregations to be used in church services. Also included in the first half of the book is a section titled "The Singing School." This protion of the music book is a manual for classes in vocal music, with exercises and rounds, partial songs, and choir practice.
