A small group of papers predates those of the Beckwith family. A handwritten notebook with the title "The Materia Medica & Pharmacopoia of the Philadelphia Dispensary". Four different names can be deciphered including that of William Buel, a doctor in Sheffield, (Mass.) for 20 years, who moved to Litchfield in 1815-1816. The back cover also includes the name of William Williams, Sheffield.
