Governor Trumbull thanks Wolcott for information regarding Reverend Azel Backus preaching the election sermon; in light of Backus thinking himself released from the obligation he has procured the Reverend Lyman Strong of Chatham in the even that Backus refuses; notes that he has also written to Backus on the subject.

Writes to Wolcott regarding his not being reappointed as a Commissioner on Turnpike Roads. Trumbull did not feel that it was a reflection on Wolcott's performance but rather the impression that it was inconvenient for him to hold the office and that he would prefer Sheriff Landon to receive the appointment.
