Biographical / Historical

The Litchfield Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Litchfield, Connecticut was incorportated in 1833. In August of that year they placed a notice in the "Litchfield Enquirer" announcing that they were open for business and offering a detailed account of what type of insurance it was and how to purchase it.

In 2007, the Litchfield Mutual Fire Insurance Company was acquired by the State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company of Ohio. In 2011, they sold their Litchfield property at 21 South Street.
