Litchfield photographs2

Scope and Contents
Two photographs of Litchfield (2013-128-0). One is the Alexander Catlin house at 258 North Street that belonged to Dr. Buel in the blizzard of 1888. Large snow drifts and a few people are visible. The second is the lower part of the business blocks on West Street and West park on the Litchfield Green. This was taken prior to the 1888 fire. There is a building visible on the Park that may be a temporary building after the upper West Street businesses and court house were destroyed in a fire in 1886. Both cabinet photographs measure 4 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches and have Benedict, Litchfield, Conn. on the back.
