Scope and Contents
Mathew Carey condemns the apathy and selfishness of American cotton and woolen manufactures with respect to their failure to support the tariff of 1818; the contest is between those who wish to make America truly independent and those who want to maintain the current servility to foreign manufacturing; is publishing a report on the state of US commerce and manufacturing in hopes of affecting Federal policy.
