Scope and Contents
Details of a troublesome stage coach ride on his journey from Litchfield to New York. Gives his opinions on the prescribing of different drinks for medicinal purposes. Included with the letter are newspaper clippings containing an article about deaths from the heat in New York (which he commented on in the letter), a poem by Hoffman, an article about an exhibit of animals (caffres and a snake) at the American museum, and an article about a movement to change the name of New York state to Ontario or Niagra. There is also included a label of some sort printed with the following: "Gold Medal National Exhibition, Best Quality NBT Warranted."
