Scope and Contents
Chronically arranged lists of deaths, primarily of Litchfield County residents and native-born Litchfield persons. Some notes that may be included are place of death, age, spouse, parents, and any unusual circumstances of death. Of particular note are two death notices of former enslaved people, Chloe Haywood, enslaved person of Ephraim Kirby, was given to Reverend Truman Marsh at the age of 7. She remained in his family until her death on March 13, 1866. Also noted is Mrs. Killey Harrison whose mother was an enslaved person of Ebenezer Bolls of Litchfield. She married Richard Harrison, whose mother was Betty, an enslaved person of Mr. Ephraim Harrison of South Farms. She died April 21, 1866.
