Scope and Contents
3 letters, in the first letter Winthrop talks about a soldier who dies in the hospital, trying to send a package home, news of camp, and Lucy’s health. Also attached to this letter is a letter to Frances Phelps, which says how much Winthrop misses her. In the second letter, Winthrop describes preaching, going to a prayer meeting, and changes in officers and personnel. In the third letter Winthrop talks about news of friends in camp, bringing a former enslaved woman home to be their servant, and lists the money he has sent home and what it is to be spent on.
