Biography

Warren K. Tice was born in Waterbury, Connecticut to Warren and Muriel (Coley) Tice. He was brought up by his grandparents, E. Harold Coley and Eula Adams Coley. Follwing his graduation from the University of Connecticut in 1960, he worked in geology and paleontology in Nebraska and elsewhere in the United States. He later became an authority in the application of transmission eletron microscopy. He also worked in the aircraft industry and the computer inducstry. Tice received many awards for his achivements, and was one of the first Americans to present a paper in China following its opening to the West. Following his retirement, he published books on uniform buttons and genealogy. He retired with is wife, Jean Carew Tice, to Essex Junction Vermont where he died in 2014.

Coley, who's father died in the Civil War; a photograph of Warren Tice, the donor; an admission ticket to a testimonial dinner honoring Harold Coley on June 26, 1958 in Plymouth, CT; and four letters from Helen and John Guthrie in Sterling, Illinois to Hiram Hotchkiss of Litchfield, 1856-1858.
