Biography
Hiram Gross Kilbourn was born in Bradleyville, Litchfield, Connecticut in 1814 to Putnam and Catherine Bishop Kilbourn. He married Harriet Moulthrop in 1840, with whom he had two children. Following her death in 1850, he married Adelia Barns in 1851, with whom he had three children. He worked as a farmer.

Kilbourn family correspondence, primarily of Hiram Kilbourn. There are several letters from Kilbourn to his second wife, Adelia E. Barnes Kilbourn as well as descriptions of his farm in Bethelehem. Numerous letters from Charlot Partridge to Hiram Kilbourn describe his work as a teacher in various schools in New York state. Partridge addresses Kilbourn as "cousin."
